Aubrey Organics Green Tea Clarifying Shampoo Review

I have had problematic hair since I was in Primary school, especially with dandruff. When I was in secondary school, I had a severe dandruff problem which resulted in having to visit the doctor and get medical treatment.

Dandruff has always been an on-and-off problem for me even till today. It gets horrible especially since I have really dark coloured hair and white flaky skin (dandruff) looks absolutely disgusting! I have been using Head & Shoulders regliously over the years and it seemed to help my hair most of the time. But that also meant that I CANNOT use anything else because any other brands eg. Pantene / Dove will make my scalp itch. I felt that I was relying too much on the shampoo, so I decided to go in search of something more “natural”.

As I have mentioned a blog post about 2 weeks ago, I went shopping on iHerb.com using a coupon from a friend. I searched for a shampoo which sought to target dandruff and found Aubrey Organics Green Tea Clarifying Shampoo (iHerb.com – Approx SGD$12.50).

First of all, I am no expert at analyzing the chemicals in daily toiletries I use, but I am learning by the day :) Right now I would just like to share my experience so far after 2 weeks of using this shampoo.

Aubrey Organics Green Tea Clarifying Shampoo features Organic Matcha Green Tea and Ginseng Extract which seek to tone the scalp and is suitable for oily scalp. I overlooked this and actually I don’t have an oily scalp. It was more drying.

Well, green tea is on the #7 of the list, and the rest sounds like mostly natural ingredients.

The inside solution was a dark brown solution which was very fluid. It smelled like fresh citrus – Not bad. Very different from the usual Head & Shoulders I have been using.

Now onto how it worked for me..

After a couple of washes, I found my hair super dry, when my hair already is very thick and coarse. I was a little disappointed, and my conditioner did not help much. I then poured in some Jojoba Oil from Now Foods, around 7-8 drops which is around half a table-spoon. This seemed to help slightly, my hair is no longer as dry as when I first used the shampoo.

For my dandruff, it seems like it is under control (I don’t have crazy itch), but it is not eliminated. I guess I need to use it more to see if it truly helps!

Overall, I feel that this is a decent shampoo but not that amazing yet. Let’s see if it holds up 1-2 months later!

Anyway, my first purchase from iHerb is satisfying! The items shipped out very quickly as you can see below.

I purchased on March 15, and items were shipped on Mar 17. Items arrived at my place via registered mail on Mar 20! Pretty swift, huh?

  • I have wanted to try Aubrey Organics shampoo for a while now! Currently I am really liking one from Andalou Naturals, though, so I’m good for a while.

    • Which one are you using from Andalou Naturals? I’m looking for something to use for dandruff hair :)
